If you have a $2 bill lying around in the house, it could fetch you a small fortune. Here’s how. 

A 2-dollar bill with a red seal from 1890 that is uncirculated is now worth $4,500.

Other $2 bills that you have with a red seal can fetch between $300 and $2,500.

Meanwhile, the 2 dollar bills with brown or blue seals may also fetch you hundreds. 

A 2003 Federal Reserve set of 12 $2 bills could fetch you as much as $700.

The Currency Education Program says 1.2 billion $2 bills in circulation in 2017 were worth $2.4 billion.

In 2022, there 2-dollar bills in circulation were an estimated 1.5 billion.

The US issued its first $2 note in 1862 featuring founding father Alexander Hamilton, the first treasury secretary.

Thomas Jefferson, the third president, replaced Hamilton’s portrait. He remains the face now.
