Pope removes Texas bishop: How much money do bishops make

Pope Francis removed a Texas bishop from his position after an investigation on Nov 11.

He removed Bishop Joseph E Strickland from pastoral governance of Diocese of Tyler, Texas.

Strickland’s removal follows a probe ordered by the Vatican into all aspects of the governance.

The findings made during the investigation have not been made available to the public.

“A dark cloud has descended on this nation,” Strickland had tweeted when Joe Biden won elections.

All bishops in the US receive the same salary, according to a formula set by the General Conference.

In the US, Bishops are paid an average salary between $150,000 and $200,000 per year.

Besides that, each bishop is provided an episcopal residence.
