Navigating Fatherhood as a FinTech Founder

As the Founder of Beem (FKA Line), I aim to drive the AI revolution at the bottom of the pyramid with my team, while cherishing my role as a father. In this blog post, I share how I make the most of Father’s Day with my son and team.
Navigating Fatherhood as a FinTech Founder
Father’s Day is a bittersweet occasion for me. It’s a day to celebrate the bond I have with my son, who is a mischievous yet kind 1st grader. It’s also a day to acknowledge the sacrifices I have made as a FinTech Founder, working hard to create a financial revolution at the bottom of the pyramid in the US.

As the Founder and CEO of Beem (FKA as Line), the Open-Loop-Payments Pioneer, leading AI-First FinTech Platform and creator of the Beem App, America’s #1 Smart Wallet AppTM , I’m on a mission to democratize financial services and achieve significant social impact alongside promising returns. I’m also a dad who loves his son more than anything in the world, but who hasn’t been able to spend a single Father’s Day with him due to scheduling challenges at his end or at mine.

In this blog post, I want to share with you how I cope with this dilemma, and how I make the most of Father’s Day with my son and my team.

Founder’s Balancing Act as a Father

Being a FinTech Founder & CEO is not an easy job. It requires a lot of dedication, passion, and resilience. It also comes with a lot of responsibilities, pressures, and uncertainties.

I started Beem (FKA Line) in 2020, with the vision of using artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize financial inclusion at the bottom of the pyramid in the US. This is a huge and under-tapped market segment, with over 100M working Americans that wield $10 trillion in annual spending power.

Beem provides interest-free, subscription-based financial support without income restrictions, credit checks, or due dates. It also facilitates payments and distribution of goods and services to this massive segment of society. We use advanced AI technology to empower seamless payments, fraud detection, marketing, and customer support. We also leverage our data-driven insights to offer tailored products and services that match our customers’ preferences and goals.

Since our launch, we have achieved remarkable success, with over 1.5 million registered users and over $50 million disbursed, effectively preventing over a million financial emergencies. We have also become profitable by the end of the fiscal year 2022.

However, this success comes at a cost. I have to work long hours, travel frequently, and deal with various challenges and risks. This means that I have less time and energy for my personal life, especially for my son.

My son is my pride and joy. He is smart, curious, and creative. My son loves to play games, watch movies, and read books. He also loves to ask me questions about my work and what I do.

I try my best to be there for him as much as I can, but sometimes it’s not enough. Sometimes I miss his school events or his birthday parties. There are times I can’t answer his calls or texts. Sometimes I can’t even spend Father’s Day with him.

This breaks my heart every time. I feel guilty and sad for not being able to give him the attention and care he deserves. I worry that he might feel neglected or resentful.

But I also hope that he understands why I do what I do. I hope he sees that I’m working hard to create a better future for him and millions of people who deserve financial access and empowerment. I hope that he appreciates the value of hard work, compassion, and generosity. I hope that he respects me as a father and as a leader.

Celebrating Father’s Day as a Founder

Father’s Day is not only about me, but also about the people who support me: my son and my team.

My son is my biggest source of motivation and inspiration. He is always there for me through thick and thin, cheering me on and lifting me up. He also keeps me grounded and humble, reminding me of what truly matters in life.

On Father’s Day, I like to make it up to him by doing something special for him. Even if we can’t be together physically, we can still connect virtually. We usually video call each other, exchange gifts and cards, and express our love and gratitude for each other. We also do something fun together online, like playing games, building lego or watching movies.

My team is my second family. They are the ones who share my vision and mission, who work hard and smart to make it happen, and who challenge and inspire me every day. They also understand the joys and struggles of being a FinTech Founder & CEO better than anyone else.

On Father’s Day, I like to show my appreciation for them by sending them personalized messages or emails thanking them for their contributions and achievements.

Father’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s a day to celebrate the two roles that define me: being a dad and being a FinTech Founder & CEO. It’s also a day to celebrate the people who make these roles possible: my son and my team.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy Father’s Day!

Beem – The Inclusive Financial Network!
It may come as a surprise to you that over 100 million Americans don’t have access to critical financial services. Even before the pandemic hit, a growing number of people had income less than their expenses and suffered from lumpy, unsteady income due to faulty corporate and public policies. To top that, they were denied access to even services created for the underserved as they were deemed “risky” due to non-traditional work arrangements or traditional work arrangements that were lumpy (due to no fault of their own), or lacked “relevant” credit history. Most of these people are either women or people of color. In the wake of an incredibly painful economic period and record inflation, you can only imagine how much this has been exacerbated.
