Summer Weddings: Celebrating Love in the Sun

Nothing rings wedding bells like summer. And the two words for a match made in heaven are “June” and “weddings”. The days are longer, the weather is perfectly warm, flowers are blooming and the blue sky couldn’t get any bluer.

Yes, the weather is on board with your wedding plan. Phew! But apart from the weather being onboard, planning a wedding can be stressful enough apart from worrying about the costs.

For most couples, the cost is a factor and they need to save as much as possible. If you’re one of those couples who need to save as much as possible, take a look at these hacks to save money on your summer wedding. We won’t promise that you’ll get married for free, but you’ll save money at the very least.

Look Into Suburban Venues

“Where” you get married is just as important as “when” you get married. A major metropolitan setting will bump up wedding prices due to increased competition for venues and other services. Pick a serene suburban venue, that way your wedding looks dreamy and doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Consider Other Days of the Week

Everybody loves a Saturday. And couples are no exception. But a Friday wedding will save you thousands on the venue and weekday rehearsal dinner.

What’s even better is a Sunday wedding. The site fees are less, plus food and beverage costs are lower.

No Prints Just a Wedding Website

Instead of multiple cards for all your events, create a website that is inclusive of all the information. Then direct your guests to your website for details regarding the rehearsal dinner, welcome party, or day-after brunch and logistics like transportation, hotel rooms and more.

Get a Jump on the Perfect Wedding Look

Let’s be honest, the highlight of a wedding is the bride. So, if you’re the bride, envision your best look and pre-order your wedding gown at least eight months ahead of the wedding day.

This will cut down on rush fees and last-minute alterations. Also, consider renting your jewelry. You could borrow a $30,000 diamond necklace for $300. The only downside is you’ll have to send it back!

Seek Out Upcoming Photographers

One sure way to save some funds on photography is to seek out new talent. Social media is a great resource. You can also save hundreds by booking a second shooter to assist with only the getting-ready shots. That way they’re done much earlier in the day and you don’t need the photographers to stay long.

Bulk up on Your Blooms

Get discounts on your flowers by ordering varieties in bulk. Then DIY your bouquets and centerpieces. Don’t underestimate the beauty of green in your bridal bouquet. It’s inexpensive and adds a lot of color, size and texture to arrangements. A treat for the eyes indeed!

Also, repurpose your wedding flowers! Use decorative florals from your ceremony site to adorn the reception tables.

Favor-Able Giveaways

A scented candle or a little something to sip and savor is preferable by most guests as wedding favors. Bonus: it won’t break the bank.

Fabulous Cake

Apart from the bride, the only other thing that catches the eye is the wedding cake! You can have the wedding of your dreams and save money on your wedding cake. The two big hits in the world of frosting are buttercream and fondant.

If you’re big on saving money, pick the former over the latter. Buttercream is less expensive while fondant is expensive, requires extra steps and material, and can be difficult to work with.
