Early life and family

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carte was born in Houston, Texas, on September 4, 1981. She is the daughter of Celestine and Mathew Knowles. Her younger sister Solange is a singer and a former backup dancer for Destiny’s Child.

Beyoncé is currently married to Jay Z, who is also known for being one of the richest rappers in the world. They have two daughters together.

She attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and she later switched to Alief Elsik High School. At Alief Elisk High, she was a member of the choir at St John’s United Methodist Church.

Reaching for the stars

Beyoncé’s career started in 1996 when she joined the group Destiny’s Child. They were signed by Columbia Records in 1997. In total, Destiny’s Child sold over 50 million records worldwide. Their song ‘No, No, No’ later became their first huge hit worldwide.

Beyoncé later struck out on her own and released several successful solo albums. Beyoncé, as a solo artiste, released multiple solo albums over the years.

Her albums portray a variety of genres and several combinations of mid-tempo, slow, pop and R&B ballads and more upbeat electro-pop.

As successful as Beyoncé is for her music her savvy business acumen makes her a brand to be reckoned with. Beyoncé signed her first endorsement deal with Pepsi in 2002.

And the deals just came pouring in by L’Oreal, American Express, Samsung, Ford and DirectTV. She even went on to launch multiple fragrances over the years and signed a three-year deal worth $20 million to develop a signature fragrance for Coty.

In fact, her first solo fragrance brand in 2010. She eventually created six fragrance brands which generated more than $500 million in revenue since 2010. Her brand is the most successful celebrity fragrance of all time.

Back in 2018, Beyoncé signed a deal with Netflix for $60 million to provide the streaming service for her Coachella performance. Beyoncé was given $6 million worth of Restricted Stock Units in 2015 when the company was worth $50 billion.

Between 2018 and 2019, Beyoncé Knowles’ net worth increased by $80 million from her various endeavors.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are known to have an extremely valuable portfolio of real estate assets around the world. In 2008 they bought a 7-bedroom mansion on Indian Creek Island in Miami for $8 million. They later sold it for $9.3 million. Beyonce also owns a $2.6 million home in New Orleans.

Her husband Jay-Z also owns a $10 million apartment in NYC. In 2017, Beyoncé sold her NYC condo for $9.95 million that she had bought in 2005 for $5 million.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z together, in 2017, bought a mansion in the Hamptons called Pond House for $26 million. That same year they paid $88 million for a 30,000 square foot mansion in Bel Air, California.

Beyoncé Knowles net worth for philanthropy 

Beyoncé Knowles uses her net worth to support a list of charities that are long and varied. A few of her greatest contributions include the one made to the Survivor Foundation.

She founded this organization with fellow Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland. The foundation initiated a Music World Cares Christmas Carnival for 300 low-income households to enjoy a fun-filled day of food, entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus and free toys from the toy giveaway. The singer also did a series of food drives before her concerts in 2006.

Beyoncé partnered with anti-hunger organizations like Feeding America, The Houston Food Bank and The Global Food Banking Network. Beyoncé also co-founded Chime for Change, a platform to empower women and girls through education, health and justice. She was called to be the Ambassador for the 2005 World Children’s Day.

That is when she released ‘Stand Up For Love’, an anthem for the event which takes place annually around the world on November 20 to raise awareness and funds for children’s causes.
