Financial tips for your spring break
Spring break is normally a fun time free from worry or care. That is until you spend too much too soon that you have no money left for the rest of it. Here are a few tips that can help you stay within your budget this spring break and make the most of it.

Want a budget-friendly spring break? Check out these cool tips on how you can save money and have a great time as well.

Make a solid plan for spring break

Planning is the most important part of any activity and planning ahead is even more vital. One of the biggest benefits of making your spring break plans early is that you’ll get access to the less-expensive choices before everyone else. Instead of booking at the last minute when the prices for flights, hotels, destinations, and activities are sky-high, why not book them in advance when the rates are still low?

By planning ahead, you will also be able to scout for the best destinations and activities that suit your budget. You can read reviews from others to see if you’re the venues you’re planning to book are worth the cost. Additionally, you’ll also get sufficient time to plan and write down everything you need to take along with you on your trip so that you don’t spend more money to buy something just because you forgot to pack it in your last-minute hurry.

Check out not-so-popular places

It’s obvious that most people want to enjoy their spring breaks at popular destinations. But keep in mind that the more crowded a place is, the more expensive it tends to be. So, instead of booking flight tickets and hotels to crowded spots in Florida or Texas, you might want to look at destinations along the eastern coast instead this time. If you’re not really the partying type, this might work out in your best interest too. The east coast is lined with mountains and deserts, perfect for the spring break explorer.

Why fly when you can ride or drive?

Sure, taking a flight is a great way to save time on travel. But you do have to pay significantly more when compared to driving to your destination or taking a bus or train. Driving to your destination can be a lot of fun especially if you get a few friends to tag along with you as well. The entire group can share the fuel costs and also take turns driving. The best part about taking a bus or train, or driving is that you get to have fun along the way as well as enjoy the scenic route.

Save money wherever you can on spring break

There are plenty of ways to save money when you’re on spring break this year. For your accommodation and stay, look at alternatives other than the regular hotels. Airbnb and other budget stay websites can help you find accommodation at much lower prices. If you want to make it even more cost-effective, try camping as well. Government-owned camping sites are the cheapest and also give you camping gear at rental prices.

Making your own food or carrying food on your trip is the best way to save on food costs on your spring break this year. Of course, try the local cuisine too, but make sure you don’t blow your budget on dining out.

Another way to save money is on the activities you’ve got planned. Look for discounts and deals offered by local companies or brands on activities at your destination. Sometimes, booking in advance can help you get great rates too.

Keep impulsive shopping in check

Don’t shop on impulse. Most of us tend to do this while we’re on a trip. But this can only lead to you using up your budget way ahead of schedule. Don’t buy that t-shirt or hat just because you want to. Save your money to spend on something more useful. Or just save it for a future rainy day.

Leg it locally

Instead of taking a cab to get around, simply walk and explore the place. Not only will you save money, but walking is also a great exercise. Want to know how to refresh your finances this spring, read here.
