How to Make Thanksgiving Travel Easy and Safe
There’s no doubt that the occasion of Thanksgiving brings a lot of happiness. You get to eat good food, spend time with your family and watch some feel-good movies. It is also the time when people travel for the long weekend. Here's how you can plan it.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, people are gearing up to travel to see their loved ones. Here’s how you can make your Thanksgiving travel easy, smooth and safe with our helpful tips.

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year. It has been predicted that 54.6 million people will travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving 2022. This year it is projected to be the third busiest for Thanksgiving travel.

When it comes to holiday travel planning, it’s never too early to start. Here are some tips to make your Thanksgiving travel easier and safer:

Book Everything Together

Make your plane ticket booking as early as you can or at least one week before in advance. Book everything together including flight tickets, car rental and hotel reservations if you are going on a vacation. This can save you a lot of money. Furthermore, opt for morning flights as they are a lot less crowded.

Avoid Traveling on Tuesday

It’s a known fact that traveling on a weekday means cheaper and better fares. However, that’s not the case with Thanksgiving. It’s also the worst day to travel a week after Thanksgiving. Fly back on weekends and book a nonstop flight. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays are often less expensive during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pack Snacks and Stay Hydrated

If it’s a long flight or a long road journey, it’s better to pack some snacks for the road. Always stay hydrated and carry a bottle of water wherever you go.

Buy a Backup Ticket

If you just can’t avoid meeting your family or can’t stay back any longer, it’s best to book a refundable backup ticket. That way, even if your flight gets canceled or you miss it, you still have another chance to make it on time.

Carry All the Essentials

Sanitizer, mask, disinfectant wipes, travel pillow, blanket, chapstick, and passport. Covid is still spreading and you need to make sure you are protected. Keep sanitizing your hands every 20 minutes if you are traveling by air.

Weather Appropriate Clothing

Before you travel, it’s important to know the weather of the place. Pack accordingly. This will ensure you don’t overpack or under-pack. It will also save you time because you won’t have to do extra laundry after returning from your trip.

Headphones and Portable Charger

Noise-canceling headphones are necessary irrespective of your mode of travel. You can listen to music and relax all the way home. You should never miss packing a portable charger. Imagine draining your battery and there is no portable charger with you. It’s a big safety risk.

Download some travel apps as they offer good deals on flights and hotel reservations. Also, consider signing up for the TSA Pre-Check Program. This will help your security check prices easier.
