Jimbo Fisher net worth: Why Texas A&M fired coach for $77 million?

SPORTS

Texas A&M fired coach Jimbo Fisher on Nov 12.

Assistant head coach Elijah Robinson will be the interim head coach for the rest of the season.

Fisher took over the head coaching job in 2018 after eight years at Florida State.

He signed a 10-year, $75 million contract when he joined the Aggies from the Seminoles.

He had the top recruiting class for Aggies in 2022 and was in the top 10 in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

However, Texas A&M didn’t win more than eight games since then.

Before 2021 season, he was extended through 2031 season, which came with a massive buyout clause.

Before Fisher, the highest buyout from a public school was Gus Malzahn.

Auburn University was on the hook to buy out Malzahn for $21 million after firing him in late 2020.

The Aggies are on the hook for more than $77 million to Fisher for the buyout on his contract.

The 58-year-old has a net worth of $30 million.
